Privacy Notice

1. Who we are

Steward is provided by KINETIK MOTION DESIGNED (PTY) LTD ("we", "us", "the Seller"). For the purposes of data protection law, we are the data controller of the personal data described in this notice. You can contact us at paul@kinetikmd.com.

2. Data we collect

Steward is designed to be private by default: your habit data, identity profiles, reflections, and settings are stored locally on your own device and are not transmitted to our servers. The categories of personal data involved are:

• Profile and app data (stored on your device): your chosen display name, identities, habits, completion history, streaks, and reflection entries. Used to provide the Service.
• Reminder data (only if you turn reminders on): an anonymous push subscription for your browser or device, the reminder times you choose, and the habit text shown in the notification. No account, name or email address is required. You can turn reminders off at any time, which deletes the subscription.
• Future Pro accounts: reminders, accounts and multi-device sync are cloud features and are intended to become a paid Pro subscription in future. An optional account would introduce an email address and synced habit data. We will update this notice and tell you in the app before that launches.
• Support messages: if you contact us by email, we process your name, email address, and the content of your message to provide customer support.
• Usage and device data: basic technical data such as device type, browser, and approximate region may be processed by our hosting provider to deliver, secure, and improve the Service.
• Payment data: no payments are currently processed through the Service, so no payment information is collected. If paid features launch in future, this notice will be updated before any payment data is collected.

3. Purposes and legal basis

• Providing the Service: performance of our contract with you (or steps taken at your request).
• Customer support: our legitimate interest in responding to your inquiries.
• Security and fraud prevention: our legitimate interest in keeping the Service safe.
• Product improvement: our legitimate interest in understanding how the Service is used, using aggregated or anonymised data where possible.
• Legal obligations: where processing is required by law.

4. Who we share data with

• Service providers / subprocessors: hosting and infrastructure providers that deliver the Service.
• Payment providers: none at present. If paid features launch in future, any payment provider we use and its role will be listed here before it processes your data.
• Professional advisers: legal and accounting advisers where reasonably necessary.
• Authorities: where disclosure is required by law.

We do not sell your personal data to anyone.

5. Data retention

App data remains on your device until you delete it (via Settings → Reset, or by uninstalling the app). Support correspondence is kept only as long as needed to handle your inquiry and any follow-up. Data we hold is deleted or anonymised when it is no longer needed for the purposes described above.

6. International transfers

Some of our service providers may process data outside your country of residence, including outside the UK/EEA. Where this happens, appropriate safeguards are used, such as adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses.

7. Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data, the right to data portability, and the right to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority. Because your app data lives on your own device, you can exercise most of these rights directly using the built-in export and reset tools. For anything else, email us and we will respond within one month.

8. Security

We apply appropriate technical and organisational measures, including encryption in transit and access controls, to protect the personal data we process. Your locally stored data is additionally protected by your device's own security.

9. Cookies

Steward does not use marketing or tracking cookies. Only essential browser storage is used to keep the app functioning (your settings and habit data) and to remember your preferences. You can clear this storage at any time through your browser or device settings.

10. Changes

We may update this notice from time to time. The latest version will always be available at this page, and material changes will be highlighted in the app.
