An atomic habits tracker built around identity, not outcomes

Steward is a free, offline-first habit tracker inspired by the ideas popularised in Atomic Habits. Instead of chasing outcome goals, every habit you create is attached to an identity you are casting votes for, and every design decision in the app maps to one of the Four Laws of behaviour change.

The Four Laws, as app features

1. Make it obvious

Cue and time-block fields in the habit builder

Every habit in Steward is written as an implementation intention, naming the cue, the time block, and where it happens, so the trigger is decided before the day starts.

2. Make it attractive

Identity votes and rank progress

Each completion is framed as a vote for an identity you chose ("a person who trains"), and identities level up as votes accumulate, so the reward is who you are becoming rather than a number.

3. Make it easy

Two-minute version and the Friction Log

Habits carry a two-minute fallback for low-capacity days, and the Friction Log records the specific barriers that stopped you so you can remove them instead of relying on willpower.

4. Make it satisfying

Streaks, heatmap, and evening reflection

A daily streak, a completion heatmap, and a short evening check-in close the loop with immediate, visible evidence of consistency.

Identity-first tracking

You start by naming the identities that matter to you, such as a builder, a runner, a patient parent. Habits are then created underneath those identities, so the daily question is not "did I hit my target?" but "did I act like that person today?" Cumulative votes drive each identity's rank, which is the app's main progress signal.

Never miss twice, without punishing resets

Most trackers wipe a streak the moment you miss a day. Steward uses grace shields: a missed day spends a shield instead of erasing your progress, and shields are earned back over the following days. Long stretches of consistency earn an extra charge. The result is a system that survives real life instead of collapsing after one bad day.

Private and offline by default

Steward runs as an installable web app. Your identities, habits, completion history and reflections stay on your own device, and the app works with or without a connection. There are no accounts, no ads, and no locked features.
